Today’s a big day for us at One More Game! We’ve got two big pieces of news to share:
- We raised $22 million in Series A funding, led by Lightspeed, joined by Griffin, A16Z, and others.
- We’re announcing Spellcraft, a new type of strategy game where players collect and command incredible heroes from colliding worlds.
Here’s your first glimpse of Spellcraft:
Over the last few years we’ve developed a game that’s fast-action, competitive, and fun to play, which we named Spellcraft. It requires strategic thinking and quick decision-making to achieve victory. Spellcraft is real-time and strategy, but not an RTS. In fact, it doesn’t play like any other games we’ve played so we’ve taken to calling it a Real-Time Tactics game. We think Spellcraft captures the most memorable moments from our favorite strategy games, refined into something entirely new. You’ll have to join the Alpha Preview Event to see what that really means, but we think we've created something new and fun that you'll like.
As of today, players can sign up for our Alpha Preview Event. We’ve been developing Spellcraft by putting our our Alpha-Driven Development philosophy into practice (and learning a lot in the process). We’re confident that the game is fun, unique, and deeply replayable – but it’s time to put it in front of a lot more players to make sure we’re moving in the right direction. We’re excited to move into this next phase of Alpha, and getting a ton of new player feedback on the game soon.
We’ve come a long way since we introduced One More Game to the world in 2020. A lot has changed: we’ve grown from Jamie & me to 25 developers. We figured out exactly who we want to be, and put our manifesto on paper to help players & team members hold us accountable to our mission of helping players have more fun.
We’re incredibly grateful for our good fortune to have partnered with an extraordinary team of investors. Our Series A round was led by Lightspeed Venture Partners, and joined by Griffin Gaming Partners and Andreessen Horowitz (who led our seed round). Other participants included Animal Capital, Cleo Capital, and a number of individual investors.
This additional funding will fuel the continued development of Spellcraft and growth of the One More Game team (we’re hiring!).
